What I do for fun!

IceHouseWith apologies if I don’t quickly reply to emails, but I am very busy this week working to build a new home for the Coyotes Curling Club (see www.coyotescurling.com).   I am working to complete orders each night.

The illustration is a very accurate artists rendering….  that wall you see is under construction, and has to be finished so we can remove construction equipment so we can finish laying a first layer of leveling sand so we can put down insulation so we can lay the pipes for the refrigeration system on Saturday. So much to do!  This is a major deadline that is critical to the project.  ** Friday evening update – the wall is done, leveling the floor is well under way.

When we are finished, and open mid February, we will have the only dedicated Curling Club in the south western US.  The nearest clubs with similar facilities are in Seattle WA, Portland OR and Bismark ND.

I am working on orders when I get home….  but most nights it is after 11pm, and I am very tired.  I should be back to AHS full time (and more!) next week.

DRAW Decal Announcements

DRAW Decal has announced three new decals over the last week, all of which have been added to my eStore, and are available to order.

44-767-60-2

First, the Delta Boeing 767-400 in the ‘wavy tail’ scheme is available in 1/144 scale (DW44-767-060) and 1/200 scale (DW20-767-060).

In 1/144 scale, this decal fits a converted Revell Germany or Zvezda kit, modified with the BraZ conversion.

In 1/200 scale, it fits either a refinished Hogan (or other) snap fit 767-400 model.

44-747-51-2Second is the Saudia Cargo Boeing 747-800F, available in 1/144 scale (DW44-747-051) and 1/200 scale (DW20-747-051).

In 1/144 scale this decal will look great on the soon to be released Revell Germany Boeing 747-800F kit (RV4885, eta for release May 2014).   In 1/200 scale, it will fit a repainted Hogan or other 747-800F.

44-737-146-2

Finally, sets have been released for the Delta Airlines Boeing 737-900, available in 1/144 scale (DW44-737-146) and in 1/200 scale (DW20-737-146).

In 1/144 scale, convert the Revell Germany 737-800 kit to a series 900 either by adding extra fuselage length from a second model, or by replacing the fuselage with the Contrails resin fuselage (CM44-737-900).  In 1/200 scale, the choices are to convert a Hasegawa 737-700 or -800, or repaint a Hogan or similar 737-900 model.

All six sets will be in stock shortly.  They are all available to order now, and will be shipped on a first ordered first sent basis.

Revell Germany RV4870 Airbus A.330-300 Kit

RV4870-WPRevell Germany has re-released their 1/144 scale Airbus A.330-300 kit with the very colourful Thai Airways markings as RV4870.   This release comes with PW4000 engines.

Thai’s A.330-300 fleet are fitted with PW4000 engines for the first 12 aircraft (HS-TEA – H,  TEJ – M), and the rest of the fleet are powered by RR Trent engines.

Nazca did a good job of deRV4870-Decal-Wsigning the decal, with lots of small detail decals included.  The Italian printer (probably Cartograf) did an excellent job of printing it.  A few niggling detail errors though.  Glaring is the omission of the large gold logo that (for about the last 6 years) almost completely covers the forward cabin door on both sides of the aircraft.  Secondly, the registrations for the PW powered A.330’s are in the HS-TE series.  The decal requires the modeler to piece it together HS-T, E and the last letter.   Third, the aircraft names *:  10 ship names are provided in English (for the Port side), 9 in Thai (for the Starboard side).  Some of the aircraft names are mis-spelled – “Sri Sakhon” (TEB) should be “Si Sakhon”, “Bang Rajan” (TEC) should be “Bang Rachan”, “Srichulalak” (TEK) should be “Srichulak”, and the name for TEK in Thai is missing.  While HS-TEL and ‘TEM are PW4000 powered, they cannot be modelled as neither the “L” nor “M” are provided, nor the ship names.

* Ship names were confirmed on Planespotters.Net and cross checked with the Thai Civil Aircraft Register.

Welcome to our New Web Site !

Welcome to the new web site for Airline Hobby Supplies.

This site is a 100% rebuild of our web presence, and represents about six months of work and preparation.  It is no accident that the site bears more than a passing resemblance to the DRAW Decal web site, and I would like to thank Greg for his help as I built this site.

This first page will serve as my ‘new announcements’ page, and will help keep our customers informed of all new product that arrives at out store, new item announcements from the many manufacturers who support our hobby, and generally anything I feel like writing about.

You will always see our newest posts first, and as you scroll down and through the pages, you can catch up on the older news.

From this page, there is a convenient link into our totally rebuilt eStore, where you will find all the latest airliner kits, decals, resin and metal detail parts.  You will also find our remaining diecast and pre-built airliner models.   In addition, each new product post will include a link directly to that product.

So, with a new start, I look forward to working as your one stop shop for everything need to build that next great model.

Thanks!
