New Product Announcements, week ending June 16th 2018

DRAW Decal released a new set for the new Lufthansa cs on the Airbus A.350.

8ADecs has been busy…  first, two new decal sets in 1/144 scale:

8ADecs updated their Southwest Airlines (2015 cs) decal (8A144-246) to include registrations for the Boeing 737-MAX8 fleet.  This decal can now be used to finish a 737-700, 737-800 or 737-MAX8.

They also produced an add-on sheet for the Disney themed ‘Coco’ 737-700 (N7816B), available in 1/144 scale as 8A144-246C.

8ADecs has made some more of their decals available in 1/200 scale.  Just added to my site for the Hasegawa kits are:

Welsh Models (finally) Arrived July 3rd !

My latest Welsh Models order, which includes both some  restocks and newer releases, finally arrived July 3rd 2018.  They were delayed by a postal error, and have now made the trip between South Wales and Chandler AZ three times …  but they are here now!

New TwoSix and Vintage Flyer Releases, June 10th 2018

Well, no sooner do I publish a post with new releases for June 9th, than on June 10th TwoSix and Vintage Flyer both released new decals.

TwoSix was first, releasing a laser printed decal in 1/144 scale.

Vintage Flyer released five new DC-4 sheets in 1/144 and 1/72 scales.

Trans World Airlines DC-4 decals have been previously released by DRAW Decal (in 1/144 and 1/72 scales) and by LPS Decals (1/144 scale).

New Product Announcements, week ending June 9th 2018

8ADecs released three new decals in 1/144 and 1/100 this week.  Two airliner schemes, and one additional “Photoreal” window set for teh 747-8I.

The Delta Connection sheet features the Embraer 175, the similar Embraer 170 has previously been released by DRAW Decal, also in 1/144 and 1/100 scales.

On the subject of DRAW Decal….  they have formally released their American Airlines Boeing 737-MAX8 sheets.  This decal is available as an option in the recently released Welsh Models resin MAX8 kit (along with Air Canada and WestJet, separately, not all in one kit!).

Hey!   The reg that DRAW has chosen as the primary on this sheet has my initials!  Cool…  I just might have to build one (to sit alongside my British Caledonian 737-200 G-BRMB!).

Segue nicely to Welsh Models:  I have an order from Welsh in process, which should leave Wales early next week.   As soon as I have confirmation of its contents I will add the new items to the site, and will publish a “special edition” entry to this blog, but to whet your appetite just a little, Welsh’s recently released trio of 1/144 scale Boeing 737-MAX8 kits (American Airlines, Air Canada and WestJet Canada) should all be included.

It seems the French airline Frenchblue attracted the attention of another “blue” airline, who objected to their name as being “too similar” to theirs.  Sacre Bleu !  Really “Jet” ?  So, Frenchblue changed their name to Frenchbee.  Sacre bee !!  DRAW has updated their Airbus A.350 decal to offer either name….

I discovered a 2017 release by DRAW that I missed earlier:

DRAW also released another P.51 Mustang set, number DWxx-P51-087 is a P.51D Mustang in USAAF markings as “Baby Duck”.  It has been released in 1/24, 1/32, 1/48,1/72 and 1/144 scales.

TwoSix released two decals in 1/200 scale that have been previously released in 1/144 scale.

 

Minicraft has announced their new kit lineup for 2018.  Where (once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away…) Minicraft was one of the most prolific producers of airliner kits, there is exactly one (!) airliner in their current catalog.   A number of 1/144 military kits have civilian applications.

  • M14639 Boeing E3 NATO can be built as a Boeing 707-320B/C
  • M14696 Boeing C32B can be built as a Boeing 757-200 (Rolls Royce engines)
  • M14671 Douglas R4D (C.47) USAF on skiis

Announced kits useful to airliner modellers for 2018 release are

The Ebbro 1/48 Scale HA420 Honda Jet has arrived, and as previously described, it includes chrome details, clear cabin and cockpit windows, and a full interior that can be exposed by removing a separate and either red or blue upper forward fuselage.  Ebbro has now announced that a second release will be coming soon, this time with yellow, hunter green or silver upper fuselage part, as kit EBR48-002.  It also includes a clear upper forward fuselage option, which provides a full and unobstructed view of the interior.

Privacy Policy

Last but not least, with the forthcoming European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which took effect May 25th, 2018, we are clarifying our Privacy Policy as it applies to this blog and to the Airline Hobby Supplies estore.  First and foremost, we do not, ever, share any personal information with any third party.  We will share this information with any legal authority upon receipt of a subpoena, and with our bank or PayPal should there be reason to do so to attempt to resolve any payment dispute.  Our revised Privacy Policy will be posted on our web site shortly.

Revell Germany 1/72 Scale Concorde Kit

A recent kit release that my distributor failed to mention, and I missed, is the release of the Airfix 1/72 scale Concorde model under the Revell Germany brand, as kit RV4997.  While this kit has its challenges to build, especially getting the moving nose cone to operate properly, once completed it is an impressive model of this magnificent aircraft.

The decal sheet was designed by Daco, for a British Airways aircraft.  A lot of the extra “details” are provided, including decals for the cockpit instrument panel and flight engineer’s panels.

There are a few optional extras available for this kit.

DRAW Decal produces a British Airways sheet (DW72-CONC-001) and a “details” sheet (DW72-CONC-002).   TwoSix produces a sheet (TS72-016) for the Singapore Airlines Concorde.  This aircraft featured the Singapore scheme on the left side, and British Airways scheme on the right side.

Finally, ExtraTech has produced an etch brass set EX-72168, though at the moment it is unavailable.
