X-Scale 1/144 scale Hawker Siddely 121 Trident 1C is here!

X-Scale Models (Ukraine) has released their second all new kit, this time the British Hawker Siddely 121 Trident 1C.

24 were built, all for British European Airways. Only 23 entered service, as the 24th (G-ARPY) was lost in an ‘deep stall’ accident before delivery.  The first was delivered in August 1965, the last in in July 1966, and flew exclusively for the airline and subsequently British Airways until their retirement in the mid 70s.

One airframe (G-ARPO) remains, preserved at the North East Land Sea and Air Museum in Sunderland, painted in Northeast Airlines (UK) markings. A little ‘poetic licence’ here, as Northeast never flew the 1C. Their Tridents were both series 1E, which were the same length, but featured an increased wing span, an uprated Spey engine, and larger fuel tanks for longer range.

26 Decal has released screen printed decals for both BEA schemes, and one for British AIrways (with both British Airways and British titles). The kit can be ordered from AHS with your choice of the three decals.

Click here to order the kit – AHK4-Trident1C with 26 Decal – with your choice of.BEA (red square), BEA (‘Speedjack’) or British Airways decal.

Honeywell Aerospace Boeing 757-225 Testbed

I am pleased to finally be able to announce a project I’ve been coordinating for about six months now….

Honeywell Aerospace, based at Sky Harbor airport in Phoenix AZ operates an ex Eastern Airlines Boeing 757-200 as a flying testbed for new engines and avionics.  This collaboration, involving Jennings Heilig, Sergey Druz, and Greg Drawbaugh sees two decals produced for the two schemes that this aircraft has worn in Honeywell service.   Jennings did the artwork, and in the case of the early scheme, using photos kindly shared by Greg.  Sergey designed and has produced the ‘Golden Engine’, a Honeywell HTF7000 turbofan that Honeywell installed on the aircraft annually to test and calibrate the equipment and sensors on the 757.

Why does Honeywell refer to the HTF7000 as their ‘Golden Engine’?    Read this….

https://aerospace.honeywell.com/us/en/about-us/blogs/honeywell-flying-lab-relies-on-golden-engine

Again, my thank to Jennings, Greg and Sergey !

  • A4-312 Honeywell Aerospace (2017 – 2021 cs) Boeing 757-225 (Test Bed)
  • A4-313 Honeywell Aerospace (2021 cs) Boeing 757-225 (Test Bed)
  • SD4-757-HTF7000 Honeywell 757-200 3rd engine pylon with HTF7000 Turbofan Engine

Finally, I am offering a package deal, comprising a Zvezda Boeing 757-200 kit, a set of Druz HTF7000 engine and pylon, and your choice of one of the two Honeywell decals.

Enjoy !
